A look at recent developments in Pieland.

We’ve had a big week. On Pi day (3/14) we revealed all of the minted Octopies NFTs. This was truly a day of celebration and excitement. To go along with this, we launched a few features and announcements. We gathered them here to keep everyone looped in — and, maybe even tease a little of what’s to come.

Pi Day — The Great Reveal and MyPies
On March 14th at 3:14pm PDT, we revealed the amazing Octopie NFTs. To celebrate, there were a range of events, giveaways, livestreams and fun discussion. We were even treated to a special demonstration from Pieland’s lead artist Ryan. He showed us how he draws an Octopie trait in a captivating 30-minute video livestream. We’ll be sharing this video via our YouTube channel soon and will update all you pieple when it’s uploaded. In the meantime, you can catch our team member Danilo’s quirky “How To Bake” video. Plus, since the Octopies are all sold out , a real pie is the only way to bake a proper Pie now! (Don’t worry though, you can always grab an Octopie on the OpenSea or LooksRare Marketplace)

On Pi day, we were blown away by the incredible support and pieositive feedback we received from all of you. Thank you to our community for supporting us in such a strong way. As a small token of our appreciation, we also announced a PieOAP for everyone that minted an Octopie NFT and held it until the snapshot, taken at 4pm on 3/14. This PieOAP will be delivered soon. Please bear with us, as there are some issues with the Polygon Blockchain, so it may take up to a week for the PieOAPs to be distributed. We will let you know on Discord when they have all been sent out.

Pieland Wiki

But that’s not all that we announced on Pi Day! The Pieland team was also very excited to reveal our Wikipiedia. This is the place to know about the world of Pieland. This wiki will continue to grow and evolve so keep an eye out. For now, you can read up on each of the nine Octopie Slices, learn a bit about the Octopie Ovens, catch a sighting of some of the most unique NFTs in Pieland, and of course, view an early unearthed sketch of Pieland…

Rarity Tool

Shortly after our reveal, we released our in-house Rarity Tool. This allows you to see the Rarity ranking of your Pieland NFTs and also see all 8,314 Octopies in the world of Pieland. Each one has a Rarity score attached to it. This is the mathematical rarity of the Octopie and not meant as an indication of value. And since it’s possible to calculate rarity in different ways, third-party sites may differ from ours. Also, these rarity ranks are NOT final, as things like yet-to-be released custom 1 of 1s can have an impact on them. However, the feature is still a very useful and fun way to check out all the Octopies out there!

Poker Knight

All of this is of course exciting! But, there’s still much more to come. One example of that is our Partnership Poker Night. Hosted by Knights of Degen, this is a FREE Poker Tournament for anyone holding an Octopie NFT. This tournament includes a bunch of prizes — $1,000 in cash, a dozen NFTs, tickets to the BetOnline Main Event, and $2,500 in free bets! Again, this is completely free to enter for our community. The event starts at 1pm PT/4pm ET on Sunday. Please check our Discord on details for how to register (including the secret password).

This is just a taste of what you can expect to see, thanks to our partnerships with Knights of Degen and Purrnelope’s Country Club.

Piesitive Impacts
As part of our commitment from day one, we made sure to see through the planting of trees in the name of Pieland. We’re now at 11,000+ trees planted in Sub-Sahara Africa because of Pieland! We couldn’t have done this without our Pielievers. Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be delivering other news around ways we’re contributing to our carbon negative pledge. The Pieland community voted on a charity for us to donate to, with the final pick being the Malala Foundation. Because of this, Pieland sent $2,000 to their foundation on March 16. Thank you Pieland community for continuing to empower us to make these positive impacts that are helping to shape the world for the better.

Compietitions

In other big news, we launched our first Pieland Compietition! This fun event saw collectors required to submit an entry of 3 Octopies. These were the requirements:
1️ Octopie with any Green trait

1️ Octopie with any Gold trait

1️ Octopie Pieson (with any traits)

This was open for 48 hours, with the Compietition closing this morning at 8am PT. At that time, we took a Snapshot of all the entries, and are now processing through this data just to make sure everything is as expected. On Sunday morning, we will be pulling one name out at random to win our 1 of 1 St. Pietrick’s Day Octopie!

This Compietiton was a good bit of fun, and a great way to kick things off! In the future, we’ll be doing more of these. The requirements will change with each one, including even the “style” of requirements. We don’t expect our community to try and complete every Compietiton, but we hope that over time everyone has at least one or two they’re excited to get involved in. We’ll also be exploring a range of rewards for these Compietions. For example, you can expect things like more 1 of 1s, special edition NFTs, PieOAPs, ETH, other project’s NFTs, various crypto tokens, and more! Sometimes every successful entry will win, sometimes just 1 person, and sometimes a fixed number of lucky winners. Some of them will be open for multiple days, others might be much, much shorter. But, for now, we’re working on upgrading the infrastructure and database behind this feature to make sure we can keep scaling it up!

That’s not all though. Compietitions aren’t just a fun way to reward people collecting and holding Octopies. Compietitions also give us a really fun and unique way to tell the story of Pieland. To explore the lore and history of the world of Pie. We can’t say anymore on this right now. But soon, well, soon you’ll start to see what we mean…

Overall, we’re well on track with our promises laid out in our Roadmap. We still consider ourselves to be in Phase 1, even if we have managed to deliver on every listed item in some format. The reason is that we want to continue to refine and improve some of these features before we move on to Phase 2. You can expect some tweaks to MyPies, more initiatives around our Carbon Negative pledge, additional updates to the Wikipiedia and at least another Compietition or two, before we formally move to Phase 2.

Of course, as always, we’ll keep you all updated with our progress. We have already started to get some amazing feedback and ideas via our new Suggestions channel in Discord. Come let us know what you’d like to see us do.

Thank you, Piemilia. Let’s keep baking up something awesome!
